Dr. Andy Busch is our assistant pastor. He and his wife, Lillian, who serves as our secretary, have been married for forty plus years. They have three children who are married and are living for the Lord. Pastor Busch came to Midwest City in 1982, and God used him & his family to start Open Door Baptist Church that December. Pastor Busch was instrumental in leading the church to find its senior pastor for the next generation when he brought in Bro. Taylor as his assistant pastor in October of 2016. Pastor Busch faithfully served as pastor of Open Door for 35 years with countless souls saved, baptized & discipled and many families helped through the years in their relationships with the Lord & with one another.
Pastor Busch was a member of the United States Air Force where he accepted the Lord as his personal savior. He left Uncle Sam’s forces and immediately entered training to be on the front line of God’s forces, graduating thereafter from Oklahoma Baptist College & Institute. He served for a brief period as a missionary in Australia where he received valuable pastoral experience. For 30 years, he instructed through his alma mater a multitude of missionaries still faithfully serving the Lord today and was honored with an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from the school. Originally from West Virginia, he roots for its collegiate teams although he has learned to enjoy Oklahoma’s sports teams as well. Pastor Busch relishes the tranquility of the outdoors including hunting & fishing and has a gift for maintenance of our church building, as he particularly enjoys the work “because he can see what he is accomplishing”.
